Aid used in the right way gives life and hope
Education and training are not a matter of course in countries like Sri Lanka.
Although state schools are generally free of charge, in order to achieve a proper school-leaving qualification, every child without exception needs so-called „Tuition Classes“. These are additional private classes, where one teacher often teaches several hundred children at a time in order to keep costs down. But many parents can't even afford that. For the children, this means that they have no chance of obtaining a school-leaving qualification that will benefit them in later life.
Thus, students who are willing to learn and who are potentially good often go other ways. Some end up in the drug milieu, others try to emigrate to other countries as unskilled laborers, where they have to work like slaves for little pay.
Women and young girls usually go to Arab countries to work as maids in Muslim families. Very often they are exploited there, and because they have no chance to defend themselves, the women's reports in many cases go as far as sexual abuse.
Through our school support project we want to enable as many children and young people as possible to receive a good school education and also further education at higher schools.
For this we need your help!
This support is so valuable because education is traditionally very highly esteemed in Sri Lanka.
It is not uncommon for parents to sell their last possessions in order to provide a good education for their children. The children also understand the value of schooling. They are extremely respectful to the teachers and try to learn as much as possible. This is why in the Tuition Classes one teacher can teach several hundred children in an absolutely quiet room!
We would like to present you our financial building blocks for the child or young person to be supported and thank you very much for your willingness to help a young person to a better future.
The amounts listed are to be considered as monthly support and are given in Euros:
MODULE 1
A child may take Tuition Classes in 3 subjects to achieve middle school graduation
25,-
MODULE 2
A child is given full access to the Tuition Classes required for the A-leves
50,-
MODULE 3
A youth gains access to attend vocational school or other course programs (to learn a trade, for example, or to get training in the field of tourism to work in the hotel industry)

200,-
Depending on the amount of the monthly support, each donor is personally assigned a pupil or student as a sponsor child. This is done by our local employees who look after the children and young people on site in Sri Lanka.
We from freiRaum e. V. will inform you several times a year about the school progress of the child or young person. You are also welcome to contact the child or adolescent yourself through our staff in Sri Lanka..
After the people of Sri Lanka, through no fault of their own, have gone through a time of hardship where it was a matter of sheer survival, it is now time to think about rebuilding. Right now it is necessary to empower the rising generation so that they can build a better future and pass on the good they have received.
